Directions

  1. Prepare the Steaks
Bring steaks to room temperature for 20–30 minutes before cooking. Pat dry and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Sear the Steak
Heat olive oil or butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add steaks and sear for about 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust timing for desired doneness). Add smashed garlic and herbs to the pan and baste the steaks with melted butter during the last minute of cooking.
  3. Rest the Meat
Transfer steaks to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes. This allows juices to redistribute for maximum tenderness.
  4. Cook the Garlic Shrimp
In the same skillet, reduce heat slightly and melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes if using. Cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  5. Finish the Shrimp
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Toss gently to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
  6. Combine & Serve
Slice the steak and plate alongside the garlic shrimp. Spoon any remaining pan sauce over the top for extra flavor.
